SOHO consortium at the 2nd transnational project meeting, Da Nang, 18–19 July 2024
The SOHO consortium at the University of Danang – University of Technology and Education, 18–19 July 2024.

Da Nang, 19 July 2024. Six months after the kick-off, the SOHO consortium met for its second transnational project meeting at the University of Danang – University of Technology and Education (48 Cao Thang Street). Thirty-five participants from all nine partner universities attended in person – the largest SOHO meeting so far – with delegations from POLITEHNICA Bucharest, Université Lumière Lyon 2, Politecnico di Milano, Universiti Sains Malaysia, UTAR, The University of Danang, UTE, AIUB and Jahangirnagar University. The meeting was opened by Ho Long Ngoc, Vice Director for International Relations of the University of Danang, on behalf of Vice President Le Quang Son, by Vo Trung Hung, Vice Rector of UTE, and by Tudor Prisecaru, President of POLITEHNICA Bucharest.

Day 1 – from the needs analysis to the curriculum and the platform

Project coordinator Vladimir Tanasiev reviewed the progress of WP1, WP2 and WP6 and recalled that the project idea grew out of the Erasmus+ KA1 mobilities between POLITEHNICA Bucharest and its Asian partners, with the University of Danang as main promoter. Gabriel Dima presented the completed Training Needs Analysis (D2.1), thanking the South-East Asian partners for reaching the planned number and profile of respondents, and the Moodle instance that will host the courses, with examples of learning content and a storyboard template for producing H5P learning units.

The ULL team – Aicha Sekhari, Yacine Ouzrout and Thanh-Ha Bargas – presented the approach for the Training Curriculum (D2.2): topics drawn from the D2.1 survey for the three modules (smart transportation, smart sustainable accommodation, smart renewable energy), the Triple Helix model of industry–government–academia cooperation, and practice-oriented methods such as project-based learning, case studies and gamification. Partners agreed that the content should also serve as a knowledge pool for the future Knowledge & Competence Centres and fixed the calendar: second version of D2.2 by 29 September 2024, partner feedback by 6 October, final curriculum by 31 October 2024 and final LMS by 30 November 2024, with an online meeting on 11 September 2024 to fine-tune the curriculum.

In the administrative session the coordinator went through the lump-sum funding rules and the declarations of completion per work package, and Alina Borcoș presented the dissemination tools: the project website sohoproject.eu, the newsletter layout and subscription form, and the continuous reporting form for dissemination activities, together with the mandatory EU acknowledgement for all publications. The next physical meeting was fixed for 5–6 December 2024, to be hosted by the Malaysian partners in Penang.

Day 2 – the three training modules and quality

On the second day ULL, POLITEHNICA Bucharest and POLIMI presented their proposals for the three WP3 training modules: Thanh-Ha Bargas for Smart Transportation, Vladimir Tanasiev for Smart Sustainable Accommodation and Emanuele Ogliari for Smart Renewable Energy. The discussion focused less on content than on delivery – project-based activities, group work, theory taught through practical examples and a mix of online and in-person teaching for inclusivity. Detailed WP3 planning was left for the third meeting, as the work package starts in December 2024. Gabriel Dima closed with the key elements of the Quality and Evaluation Plan and announced the online evaluation questionnaire of the meeting; the coordinator and Vice Rector Vo Trung Hung gave the farewell speeches.
