Universite Lumiere Lyon 2

FRANCE

University Lumière Lyon 2 is a public institution of higher education and research. Since its establishment in 1973, it has been committed to upholding a strong and rigorous vision of higher education and research by placing great importance in its research programs and in the organization of knowledge dissemination activities. With 32 laboratories and 8 research federations, University Lumière Lyon 2 offers a varied range of courses that cover a broad spectrum of disciplines in the humanities and social sciences. It proposes 13 training entities focused in four fields: humanities and social sciences; arts, languages, and literature; science, technology, and health; law, economics, and management. University Lumière Lyon 2 welcomes over 28,000 students, from the undergraduate to doctoral levels.

University Lumière Lyon 2 advocates student mobility through exchange programs and internships in numerous countries. International openness is a priority for our academic institution, as demonstrated by over 500 cooperation agreements with nearly 400 foreign institutions in 60 countries. Almost 20% of the university’s students are international, especially since numerous dual diploma programs with foreign academic institutions are proposed, as well as international research activities.

In 1992, the University Lumière Lyon 2 created the University Institute of Technology of Lyon II, known as IUT Lumière. IUT Lumière benefits from the university’s educational and research context as it strives to develop a technological and professional training path. The IUT Lumière operates exclusively on a work-study basis, proposing five DUT (University Diplomas of Technology) and seven professional Bachelor’s degree programs. Since the 2021 educational reform in France, the IUT now also proposes University Bachelors of Technology (BUT). Thanks to its commitment to the professionalization of students and to the strengthening of university-business relationships, IUT Lumière received a distinction from the National Union of IUT Presidents (UNPIUT) in March 2007. In 2014, IUT Lumière was recognized as one of the top three IUTs in France with the highest value-added diploma.
