Politecnico di Milano

ITALY

Politecnico di Milano is a public scientific-technological university that trains engineers, architects, and designers. It has consistently prioritized quality and innovation in its teaching and research, fostering a productive relationship with the economic and industrial sectors through experimental research and technological transfer.

The university’s research is increasingly integrated with teaching, a core commitment that enables Politecnico di Milano to achieve high-level international results and serve as a bridge between academia and industry. Research activities also run parallel to collaborations and alliances with the industrial system.

Today’s challenge is to extend this tradition of strong regional ties beyond national borders, starting at the European level, to contribute to creating a “single market” of education. Politecnico di Milano participates in numerous research and training projects in collaboration with top European and international universities, ranging from North America to Southeast Asia to Eastern Europe. The university’s push for internationalization includes participating in the global network of major technical universities, offering numerous exchange and dual degree programs.

As of the academic year 2022/2023 (updated in March 2023), Politecnico di Milano boasts a total of 47,959 enrolled students and 1,893 PhD candidates. The university’s dedication to fostering a diverse and international academic community is evident in its offerings for international students, which include 41 Master’s Degree courses, 2 Bachelor’s Degree courses, and 20 PhD courses, all taught entirely in English. This has attracted 8,258 international students in the academic year 2022/2023.

Politecnico di Milano consistently ranks highly in international university rankings, especially in engineering, underscoring its commitment to excellence in education and research. This global recognition makes it an attractive destination for students worldwide.

Understanding the world in which students will work is essential for their training. Addressing the needs of the productive, industrial, and public administration sectors drives research to explore new areas and meet the demands for constant and rapid innovation. The university’s alliances with the industrial world, often facilitated by the Politecnico Foundation and associated consortia, enable it to support regional development and stimulate growth.
