American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB) is a government approved private university founded in 1994 by Dr. Anwarul Abedin. AIUB is committed to provide quality and excellent academic programs responsive to the emerging global challenges. The university is dedicated to produce and foster competent world class graduates imbued with strong sense of ethical values ready to face the competitive world of business, science, technology, engineering and social sciences. The students being the most valued stakeholders are the central focus of the university and are provided with utmost care and attention to meet their primordial needs and future career success. AIUB currently operates under four distinct faculties: Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, Faculty of Business Administration, Faculty of Engineering and Faculty of Science & Technology. Currently, there are 13459 students studying in the university.  Since its establishment/foundation, the university has turned out a total graduates of 36908 through 21 Convocations. Considered the backbone of the university, there are 526 highly qualified and competent faculty members working in the university as of 2023.

Aside from the internationally accredited academic programs, the university is equipped with the state-of-art facilities with their best features. AIUB is committed to impart quality and excellent education by promoting its students as responsible and productive global citizens of high ethical standards and values. With the guidance of the Management and the assistance of its committed faculty and officers, AIUB continues its relentless journey in order to create true leaders. AIUB always tries try to enhance and nurture the intellectual, creative and artistic potentials of each and every student and boost them with enough confidence so that fearless and critical minds are created, who are up and ready to successfully meet and overcome all the challenges that will beset them in the future.

All academic programs of AIUB are Government recognized and approved by University Grants Commission of Bangladesh (UGC). Recently, in 2024, AIUB has become the first 4-Star University in Bangladesh in the prestigious QS STARS Rating. In a constant effort to internationalize its education and improve global competitiveness, AIUB has been increasing its affiliations with reputed organizations like Institutional membership in International Association of Universities (IAU), Asia Pacific Quality Network (APQN), International Association of University Presidents (IAUP), American Association of University Administrators (AAUA), Association of Universities of Asia and Pacific (AUAP – Board Member), Council for Higher Education Accreditation–CHEA International Quality Group (CHEA-CIQG), Global University Network for Innovation (GUNI) and Association of Management Development In South Asia (AMDISA). AIUB is a Signatory to the Classic MAGNA CHARTA UNIVERSITATUM. The university was awarded “APQN’s Best/Model Internal QA Award” for the year 2016. For the first time in Bangladesh, AIUB has hosted the renowned APQN International Academic Conference (AAC) and Annual General Meeting (AGM)- 2023. AIUB is the first university in Bangladesh to establish Quality Assurance Center among all private and public universities to implement and monitor Quality Assurance & Accreditation activities in 2008 and which was converted/restructured into an Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) as per mandate by the University Grants Commission (UGC) – Ministry of Education (MoE) in 2015.
